Canuckism
Loud and Proud is what 2010 has brought to the Canadian fold.
Our Winter Olympics have shown a resolve and displayed an inherent patriotism that we all knew we had, but was always overshadowed or underplayed in comparison to that of most other countries.
Stoically demure, our Canadian demeanor often left us portrayed as quiet, polite, and laid-back as a country, but finally national pride has been brought forth with the travails of Canadian atheletes and the hosting of our "best known season's" games.
Contrary to mis-concepted beliefs, we're not earning medals or popularity in Maple Tree piercing, Polar Bear riding, Beaver Tail eating, or Reindeer roping, but in 2010 our world-class Atheletes are now being recognized with medals that most of us always knew they deserved.
Patriotically, I might add, in a sea of red and white.
The Olympics have done for this country, what in my opinion a number have politicians have not been able to do in my lifetime:
Which is to bring together, if for but 2 weeks, a country that can put aside:
the Recession,
the $ of gas,
War,
Politics,
and the reality's that make the world go round, in favor of focussing on International competition.
Competition, that demonstrates atheletes of vying countries can unite us into a kindred spirit.
In a world that can normally be viewed as being run in bi-color mode, focussed on money and blood, (Green and Red), we have know been provided a different taste.
Red and White.
Heart and Spirit.
National colors that make us all...
Proud to be Canadian.
Proud to be Canucks.
We don't need the marketing, to "Believe", but it helps remind us, that we did, we do. and we will.
We also don't need to own the podium, because based on what We, as Canadians, have displayed on the World-stage since the 2010 Winter Olympics since they began, that very simply put...
We ARE the Podium.
